There is hope for the world…

I just came home from the vet’s office tonight. Everyone is OK – Gracie was getting her last set of puppy shots as well as her first heartworm medication.

While I was in the waiting “room”, an older gentleman came in with a cat in a carrier. He worked on a farm. His clothes were a little old, and a little dirty. He was holding the carrier carefully, as if it was very precious.

He had a little girl kitty in the carrier. Until quite recently, she was a stray, running around one of the small hamlets in my county. She was strikingly beautiful. Her tiger stripes looked as if God had dry brushed white paint on the tips of her hair.

It was obvious that the man did not have all that much money, but what little he had was going to be used to take care of her. He asked the vet to give him the earliest appointment for a spay because, she said, “We do not want any more unwanted kittens running around.”

It is humbling to see a person who is barely getting by, but willing to spend what is needed to take care of his new little one.

What a sweet older gentleman.... I could almost picture the whole scene as you described it. If only more people were like that..... Rolling Eyes

It is definitely difficult to put others' needs before our own sometimes, but what a neat story when somebody does. I'm happy for that little kitten.

Mark,

Thanks for sharing that heartwarming story (it's still the Christmas season too). I hope the little girl finds herself falling in love with the nice gentleman too.
