Guys:

When you order wet food online in the winter and have it shipped to your house, how do you prevent it from freezing?

I've only ordered wet food online once - the Precise wet that Stephanie discovered for me. I'm thinking of ordering more of it soon.

However, the wet food is not my biggest worry - it's Evan's fluids. I have about 10 weeks of fluids on hand right now, so, around the first of the year I will be looking to order more fluids. Normally, the fluids are simply put by my front door by the UPS man. If the fluids freeze, they will break the bag.

Mark, is there a place (like on a porch) where you can ask they they put them out of the weather? If not, I don't think they would freeze for the "short time"that they would be outside. I have ordered all my cats canned foods over the internet and had them delivered to my house in the winter and nothing froze because they were only outside until I got home and I brought them in right away.

As for the fluids, being fluids.... why not have them shipped to your office where they will deliver them to your desk and then you can take them home with you?

I know Petfooddirect asks for the billing address and a shipping address if different. I'm sure the place you get the fluids from will do that for you too.... That would be the best for the fluids if it wouldn't cause a problem for you at work.

I've had canned food delivered in the winter and by the time I opened any to serve the cats (which was not immediately upon opening the box), it was all at room temperature.

I don't think it will freeze solid in the cans, and then wrapped in the packing in the box anyway.

Regarding the fluids, I don't know how cold it has to be before they will freeze, when packed in the box and wrapped in the packing material. I guess I'd order them before it is expected to be below freezing all day long. Or call the company and ask them about it.
