Cindy Mangsen, a well known folk performer, released a CD with songs all about cats. Cindy is an internationally touring musician who performs solo, in a duet with her husband Steve Gillette (himself a highly respected and frequently covered songwriter), and in groups.
The CD, Cat Tales, was released late in 2005. It includes many cat song by other musicians, plus several that Cindy wrote including the hilarious Rudy's Great Adventure, a true story about the cat that got his head caught in a garbage disposal and lived to ... meow ... about it. The cat on the CD cover is Cindy's cat Alice.

The CD is available from Steve & Cindy's online store at:

I read about that poor cat who got his head stuck in a garbage disposal. That part is not funny, but all the people went through to get the cat out could wind up as a humourous recounting.

Oh! The lyrics are posted on that site:

I got a "page cannot be displayed" page when I clicked the links to hear the songs. Sad

I hope you will stop by again and perhaps join in with our postings.

I don't understand why you got a "page can not be displayed" when trying to hear the clips. I have never had that reported to me before, but there is always a first time. Try this alternate direct link to a standalone page:

If that doesn't work, send me the exact message at vlmagee AT mageenet.net

And of course I'll be here at least lurking. Right now my only "cats" are some huggable toys I can never part with, and the nice white statue that is in my garden (doesn't scare away anything, I might add).

Lurking is fine. Very Happy

The "page cannot be displayed" message comes when one clicks on a name of any of the songs, from that link you posted. Try it and see. I use Internet Explorer, if that may matter.

It's that usual page one often gets when a site is not available:

Quote:
The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please try the following:

Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
See if your Internet connection settings are being detected. You can set Microsoft Windows to examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings (if your network administrator has enabled this setting).
Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings.
Select Automatically detect settings, and then click OK.
Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu and then click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength security you have installed.
If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security settings can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0.
Click the Back button to try another link.

Yuk. I know what the problem is, and I hope I can talk you through it. It's RealPlayer settings. Try opening RealPlayer, and manually setting the filetypes that it is allowed to play. Include all the Real Audio and Real Video media types. (In RealPlayer: Tools/Preferences/Content/Media Types/Manually Configure). If you need more help doing this, send me an email.

Unfortunately, with all the competing media players around, they tend to set and reset the file types they play. Each one will, by default, set the options to become your universal player, but they often take over file types they can't play too, or set file types it doesn't play to have no player defined. Usually, the last player installed will play everything it selected, but players installed earlier may no longer work properly. The reason you are getting the "page not found" message is that the file is not being passed to RealPlayer directly. Instead your browser is trying to access it and it can't. It isn't supposed to because it is a streamed clip that is protected from download.

I run on Firefox and I cannot hear the songs either - I get a message that says:

"Firefox cannot open this address because it is not associated with any program" or something very similar..... I can't even copy and paste the message.

Oh well....

You have the same problem; the browser doesn't matter. The clips must be played by RealPlayer (or RealOne, or whatever it is called these days). If you don't have it installed, or don't have the filetypes set up properly, you won't be able to play the clips. You can download a free player from

. Read carefully because they would prefer that you install the one that costs money![/url]

I hope some of you can listen to the clips! I don't hear from people who have trouble very often, so I hope that you are the exception!

I do believe we do have RealPlayer on our computer.... I listen to other stuff sometimes. Hm.... I'll have to check it out tomorrow when I have more time... It's getting late for me now and dh will be home shortly. Thanks for the info - I'll work on it.

Michelle, read my reply to Margaret above. Your RealPlayer may not be set to play all the files it knows how to play (your message even says that no program is specified for the filetype, so that makes sense). Just follow my instructions above and feel free to email me if you need more help.
