Many of you may be familiar with the Halo Liv-A-Littles Freeze Dried Chicken Treats, the ones Galen wound up with a very serious addiction to. Those currently cost $11.32 for a 2.75 oz. jar at Petfooddirect.com. Very expensive since there aren't all that many in that little jar.

But, Petfooddirect now sells a better bargain for freeze dried chicken- the new Whole Food Toppers. They have a freeze dried chicken variety, which is exactly like the Halo freeze dried chicken. The Whole Food Toppers is $15 for a 4 oz. bag. Still pricey, but a bit less so than the Halo. On Petfooddirect, they are on the "All Natural Cat Treats Page", at

I got a bag of them, and Galen was estatic. He even growled at Simon when Simon passed by as Galen was eating some. Nothing is going to stand between Galen and freeze dried chicken! Interestingly, Seamus wasn't at all interested in them. He's been happily eating everything else presented to him (especially bonito flakes). All the other cats were, though. I'm going to have to phase out the freeze dried chicken again, since Galen and Simon love them too much.

Uh-oh, Galen's going to go through withdrawals again.

If he does the "dead kitty" pose again, you've got to get pictures! Laughing

At least Seamus doesn't care for them, now you've just got two little fiends that do to deal with. hehe

Is that the one with kitty on his back next to the LB? That was a priceless picture, & DH thought it was hilarious! If it's not, I wana see it! I don't think I've seen it.

Laughing Bonito flakes are to Galen as coffee is to me! I'd be afraid to try them with Jeremy.

No, that was Des' cat.

Here is Galen going through the Halo Chicken Treat withdrawal about maybe 2 years ago.

He would meow and meow at me, jump up on my shoulder and meow in my ear, try to pull me off the chair once he got back to the floor. When I still didn't get up to get any Halo Chicken Treats, he would just flop down and wither away in despair, with his eyes staring opened.

You might not want to buy these since Galen is such a chicken addict (like my Buddy) but if you do, I found them much cheaper from Value Sport. I think the 2.75 oz Liv-A-Little chickens sells for $6.85 - here's the link if you or anyone is interested

I was wondering on the Bonito flakes, are they safe and good for them if you give them several times a week as treat? I thought I read something about the protein not being so good.

You likely read my discussion with someone on another forum in terms of Galen with chronic renal failure (CRF) having the high protein bonito flakes as a treat, since very high protein is not good for cats with CRF.

But as a treat once in a while for Galen, it was fine, as per his blood work. Cats with CRF should not have very high protein foods for their usual meals. So Innova Evo is out for Galen. But a few bonito flakes after he gets is fluids is fine.

Poor Galen! He looked so miserable in the picture! how long did it take for him to get out of his withdrawal?

sweety & tiger love their japanese cat snack - they're crab/fish strips & they'd do anything for it. hear the plastic bag crinkle & both will appear out of nowhere. excuse the all small caps, i've got tiger on my lap with his head on the crook of my right arm so i'm typing left handed ...

It took a few months to get over the worst, with many more months of still meowing hopefully at the refrigerator (where they need to be kept after opening). He'd even stick his head in the refrigerator when it was opened, searching for them once in awhile more than a year later.

No problem. It would be terrible to disturb Tiger just for capital letters! Smile
