This is horrifying now. I suggest everyone stop using foods with wheat gluten.

Is "Wheat Flour" the same as "wheat gluten"? I see "wheat flour" in the stuff I have for the cats.

I went to Price chopper yesterday and noticed they took all the Pounce treats off the shelves except the seafood flavor in a pouch.... so I came home and threw away my "bottle" of seafood treats (Pounce is a favorite here) just to be on the safe side. I think only the chicken was affected but I didn't want to take any chances. I had given them some Pounce treats two days in a row before I knew Pounce was recalling. Thankfully, I'm not seeing any problems with the cats.....

Gee, I guess I'll change my mind about giving Molly the Nutro Max Gourmet since she isn't eating the Fancy Feast Grill.

I'm going to try to go the no wheat gluten route also, which means I have to wean Jeremy off the FF which he likes.

ALSO..........just about every treat I've seen has wheat gluten in it. They've been eating "Whiskas Temptations" for a couple of years now - they absolutely love it. They don't like Greenies......what else is there?

Then, there are bonito flakes (shaved tuna), sold overpriced for cats as Kitty Kaviar. People eat them in soup (not me!) so you can get them cheaper when sold for humans. They are an Oriental thing so you might need to look in the oriental foods section. I ordered them online from

Gee... those real meat food toppers look pretty good.

I just found (at the grocery store) Whiskas Temptations Dentabites. They are crunchy on the outside (with chloropyll so they are green like grass) and soft inside. I bought the tartar control ones because everybody (except Muffin now) needs a dental cleaning. They like them and I do not see any Wheat gluten in them.... I think they cost about $1.69 for a pouch of them.
