Real turkey as a treat is usually loved by most cats.

I'm glad, Mark, that the integration of the new foods is going well. Figures that one cat would shun what is offered on a plate, but decide the same exact thing still in the can is just fine! Laughing

I don't think eating table scraps would have anything to do with hyper-t. It wouldn't cause CRF either, unless perhaps if the table scraps maybe had seasonings or something toxic to cats that could case kidney damage. I don't know offhand of any seasoning that would do that. I know onions will cause hemolytic anemia, but that ought not affect the kidneys.

However, if a cat was in the early stages of CRF, and the table scraps were way out of balance with too high protein and/or way too high phosphorus, that could make it worse.

Strangly, only Evan ate the turkey. All the other guys must not have known what to do with it, and they would not eat it.

I found this out after the fact, as one of my guests tried to give some turkey to the other kitties.
