They are up to something! I know it!
How else can I explain why three cats, each of whom have a very large “personal space requirement” suddenly end up snuggling with me in bed – at the same time.
I’ve got Evan, who tends to get out of bed as soon as I get into it, curling up and purring like an electric motor curled up between my arm and my side. I have to put my arm above my head for him.
Little Bit is curled up into a ball right at my hip – only a few inches away from Evan. He is sound asleep. Normally, Evan and Little Bit would not tolerate being that close.
Mr. Pippin, the little Monster, is napping away on my chest.
I mean, how is a daddy supposed to get any sleep at night? It’s getting so hot in the bed; I’ve had to turn off the heated mattress pad.
On a serious side, I blew out my back last Friday, so having all of these little ones ganging up on my in my sleep has not been all that helpful. I’m not sleeping all that well because of the problem, so the extra restriction in mobility is not doing much for me.
Finally, these guys are determined to sleep with me all night. I woke up at 4:22 this morning, and I had to take Pippin off of my chest to get up.

Funny you should mention this Mark....I just got up yuh7yuhyu - Hm... Sparky says hi...he took over the keyboard there for a minute - as I was saying, I just got up from taking a nap and found Muffin and Peaches napping on daddy's side of the bed only about 2 inches apart. I was shocked (as you are) as NOBODY gets that close to Muffin for any reason. Both cats were snoozing away... Peaches in her newest position - on her back.
Maybe it's the weather????
I didn't got to work today because I woke up yesterday (my day off from everywhere) with pain behind my left shoulderblade that today has extended to my neck. I cannot turn my head or move my head in an up and down motion (as if shaking my head "yes") and I cannot move my arms (particularly the left arm) without great pain. I've been sitting with a heating pad on it for hours to no avail. I hope it goes away by tomorrow. I have errands I need to run desperately. _________________ Michelle |

Maybe your guys' cats have some sort of telepathic knowledge of the pain you're both going through, and it's causing them to develop strange behaviors??
I'm kidding kind of. I just find it kind of ironic that you both have physical problems right now, and cats acting weirdly.
I hope the back and shoulder blades get better soon! _________________

Mark and Michelle, I hope you body aches are better soon.
Michelle, maybe a massage of the area will help, if it is due to muscles being all tight and in a knot. _________________ Margaret, a/k/a Galensgranny |

Margaret - Neil did try to massage the shoulders and neck where the pain had spread out but it didn't help. Today (it started on Thursday and today is Monday) it's behind the right shoulderblade and I still have pain when I try to turn my head but no where's near as bad as it was last week. Even Ibuprofen is not helping. At least today it is "tolerable". _________________ Michelle |

Michelle:
Try applying an ice pack for about 20 minutes or so, several times a day. That will often help relieve the pain.
It sounds as if you may have injured the trapizious (sp) muscle - which runs from the neck to the shoulder and lower back. That is the muscle I would always hurt before the root cause of my back problems was discovered (frozen T-4 / T-5 joint).

I'm not sure it's the trapeziuz or the muscle underneath it Mark. The pain is stricly shoulderblades to neck. I have a plate in my neck (with bone from a cadaver) at C4 and C5. Looks like a doggie treat bone. Four screws. Every now and then it' "grabs" me and I got scared that this new pain was related to the plate. I was actually afraid I would have to have exrays, an MRI and maybe even surgery again because it was so bad..... and I am not an alarmist, it's just that's how bad it was. Today it's still in the right shoulderblade but again, it's fading. Funny how it traveled from the left blade to between both blades and the neck and then settled in the right blade. Every day it gets a bit better.... I have no idea what I did but I will try cold packing it when I get home just to see if it has any effect. I just woke up Thursday morning and there it was. _________________ Michelle |
