You know, I ALWAYS talk to my animals. I talk to them, call them by name, compliment them constantly on how handsome or pretty they are. Many times they talk back to me. Sometimes it's Muffin telling me to get out of the rain box because I might get wet or it's Sparky whining about God knows what (yes, HE is a whiner). Milo tells me when it's dinner time and yesterday I actually had a "conversation" with Peaches.

She was sitting by the front door, apparently wanting to go outside. She said "meow" I said "no". She said "meow" and again I said "no". Meow, no, meow, no, meow, no, meow, no. Finally I just laughed and scooped her up into my arms and smooshed her and kissed her telling her how funny she is and that I love her. She finally shut up.

I never knew you could actually carry on a conversation with a cat that made sense until my "talk" with Peaches. Usually I am telling them that I don't know what they want. This time, I finally did.

Just wanted to share. It was a very cute moment.

Thanks for sharing that Michelle. I do believe you can talk to your cats and some of them, have a conversation with. I do that with Molly. She will come up to me and meow. We have a ritual. I respond by saying "what do you want Molly?" If she wants a treat or eat, she will lick her lips. If she wants something else she will lead me to it.

Jeremy doesn't do this. But he actually "winks" at me. He will be sitting in his chair (we have a "his" and her" chair now). He will open his eyes and look at me and blink. If I blink back, he will continue to do this every time I blink. It's so cute. He doesn't meow much, although lately I hear him meowing more for some reason. He's a man of few words.

I know how you felt because I love it when this happens. I'm glad I'm not the only one who carries on a conversation with the kitties. I loved your story.

I have arguements with Galen when I am in bed and he wants me to roll over to the way HE wants me to, so he can get under the covers and snuggle against me on the side of the bed he prefers.

He will go behind my head and meow at me, meaning, "Roll over to face THIS side". I am too comfy facing the way I am, already sleeping or half asleep, so I moan, "Nnugh", which means, "No." Then he meows louder and more commandingly and I moan louder in protest, for several exchanges until one of us give in. Either I finally do roll over to please Galen, or he makes due with cuddling against me on the side he does not prefer.

Or sometimes he stops commanding me with his loud, bossy meow, and uses the soft, sweet, kittenish "Please?" meow. That one I always oblige.

Yea, they know right where the soft spot is! I know that feeling - Molly has 2 meows that soften my heart, change my mind to do anything she wants. One is her silent meow when she looks me right in the eyes and meows but not a sound comes out of her mouth. The other is like a very quiet "whaaa" almost like a baby except a bit raspy. I love it when she does this.

That's the one Galen used on me the other night! No way can one deny that! Poor little baby.

There is another "conversation" I have with Peaches that I had forgotten about because it happens when I am sleeping. She comes on the bed and "Mrat's" to wake me up. At that time I either get up because I have to go to work or I tell her "no honey, it's sleepy time. Mommy doesn't have to get up yet." Then I run my hand over her two or three times and she lays up against me. If she's insistant about me getting up, I get little paws (running a mile a minute) on my body. That always wakes me up - even if it's just because she wants some pets which is usually the case.
