Margaret:
This is good news. I buy almost all of my books through Amazon. I also try to make all of my consumer electronics purchases from there, too.
Do you get a list of what is purchased and who purchases it? Just wondering - thinking of security and things like that. Amazon has, from what I have read, a rather poor record of protecting keeping what a person purchases confidential.

I don't get any info about who bought what, only what items were bought and how many pennies I earned off it. It is all confidential from my access- except what was bought through one of my links or search boxes.
I have a general Amazon search box at the bottom of the Home page on my website Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | So, if anyone were to intend to shop on Amazon, starting through my search box would be appreciated. You don't' even have to type anything in that little seach box. If you simply click on the words "Amazon.com" in the black section, you get transport right to the main Amazon.com site but my code goes along with you. Then anything you buy during that visit gets credited to my account- my commission part, that is.
Oh, I have an Amazon search box on this forum too, right next to the Match Up game. So that is easy to find. _________________ Margaret, a/k/a Galensgranny |

Jim:
As soon as I have it up and running, I will let you know what I think of it.
Evan's bedroom is quite small - it would be stretching it to reach 100sq ft. It is a corner bedroom, so it has two outside walls.
I noticed that the produce did not have a built in thermostat or timer. I have a timer at home, I will have to experiment and see how it works with the regular furnace. When the furnace kicks in, I really will not need the panel working.
I’m also going to evaluate it for my office. My office building is a converted convent – and the windows should have been replaced several (dozen) years ago, so it is quite drafty. Everyone has space heaters in their offices – which eat up a good deal of electricity.
For me, the situation is worse – I’m at the very tail end of the baseboard hot water run. So, I don’t get any heat at all from the main system. As soon as the temps hit the 50’s, or the wind starts to blow, I have to have a heater on.
For the time being, Evan has two heating pads running in his room. I have a “cat” pad – but it only produces 6 watts of heat. I did not think it was warm enough so I brought out the regular heating pad, put it on low, and have wrapped it in a towel. Evan seems to alternate between the two pads, depending on his mood.

Evan probably goes from one heat source to the other because one is warmer than the other and that way he can regulate it to fit his specific needs at the moment.
I hope this new heater will work well for you and Evan. It really sounds good... I will be waiting (like Jim) to see how it all pans out - especially when the really cold weather hits. _________________ Michelle |

The space heater for Evan’s room will be set up on Tuesday evening.
I must borrow a drill to set it up.
The unit does not have a built in thermostat or timer. I went looking for a thermostat today, but the only ones I could find require wall installation, etc. So, I ended up getting a digital timer instead.
Now, all I have to do is to figure out the times to have the unit on.

The thermostat and/or timer for that heater are sold separately on the website (the link I gave you way back a few posts) if you want to get one that goes with it. I didn't check them out so I don't know the cost an such....I just recall seeing them listed seperately somewhere on that page.
I can't wait to see how this heater will work!!!! _________________ Michelle |

Michelle:
The timer I found at Lowes was aabout 6 times less expensive than the timers sold through the website. If I bought thorugh the website, I would have spent more on website's timer than I would have saved in electricity.
All the thermostats I saw were the hard wired type. There was none that simply allowed me to plugh the heater pannel into it.

Ah!!!!.. I didn't look at them on the website so I wasn't aware of how they worked.... glad you found a better way (and cheaper too!). _________________ Michelle |

Jim:
I thought the timers on the website ran $80 or so. I ended up getting one at lowes - a digital weekly timer for only $14
The installation will be delayed. We have the drill, but not the necessary drill bit (bad planning).
