Yes, I thought it was a great find too and PERFECT for the room Evan is in all by himself all day long!!!!! Actually, that would be perfect for anyone who needs to put in an extra heat source in a room that doesn't heat well..... and the price is not bad at all.....

Mark, I remembered on my way home that the name of the manufacturer for the "oil filled radiator type space heater" I had was "Delonghi".

It uses less power than the average computer (400 watts) and costs about $.03/hour to run based on the average power cost of $.08 per kilowatt/hr

Hi Michelle:

I remember reading about this somewhere before.

And, by doing a bit of fast math (assuming the unit is running 24 hours a day at $0.12 per KWH (150% of the national average electricity rate)

.03 x 1.5 x 24 x31 = a $33.48 dollar increase in my electric bill. The actual rate should be lower, since the unit would not be running all the time. Assuming the unit runs only 50% of the time, the cost would be only $16.74 (plus the outragous gross receipts tax, gross income tax, state sales tax and county sales taxes that we, as NY residents, pay). Utility taxes add about 15% to the cost of our electricity.

Mark

PS I work for an overly taxed utility!

Michelle:

And, best of all, I can buy it from Amazon.

Oh Margaret - If I were to go from your link to the Amazon site and buy something in addition to the items you show, do you get any commission?

Just want to maximize whatever you could earn!

Things are moving fast in the Evan heater area.

I said that I had seen the wall pannel heater before. One of my coworkers, in fact, Sammy the kittys' mom, has it. We talked about it last year.

Turns out, her unit is not in use. Sammy's dad decided to add an additional zone to the main furnace. I'm going to buy it from her tomorrow.

Mark

PS: Sammy the kitty is the little guy who had hip surgery in May. He is doing fine now (without the hip). One could not tell the difference in him.

Mark,

A couple of things. First of all, if you go to the main website (wvcat.com) and click on the amazon page of our site and then order from there, we do get a small percentage from the sale. I realize that you are planning to buy the one from someone else, but it's good information to know in the future (especially with the Holidays fast approaching).

Also, I researched those econo-heat heaters. On several places where they were reviewed a lot of people were unhappy. However, I wonder if they were using them in correctly sized rooms. The people that did like them included that they used them in smaller rooms. I read some specs that listed the square footage of the rooms heated and they differ between the units. Once you get yours hooked up and in use, let me know how it works. I thought about getting some myself as most of our rooms are kinda small. Oh, some people said that you need to be sure that your house is well insulated. Also, it seems that many dissatisfied people had problems with customer service. Let me know one way or the other. Thanks.

Jim

Yes. As long as you start through one of my links or Amazon search boxes, then if you browse other items and finally buy one, it still gets my "code" so I get a small commission. It's not much of a commission, but every penny helps! For example, someone ordered the DVD for Season 3 of the TV show "24" for $38.97 and I made $1.56.

I didn't know that you and Jim get a commission from Amazon stuff Margaret.... I don't buy much stuff over the internet but if I do see something, I'll keep it in mind.
