|
|
My local Kroger's grocery store now sells a top quality premium canned food! It is Lamaderm. Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! |
They only had the canned. The ingredients are very good, abbreviated list below:
LAMB, LAMB BROTH, LAMB LIVER, KIDNEY, GROUND BROWN RICE, PEAS, CARROTS, LECITHIN, CALCIUM CARBONATE, FLAXSEED MEAL, POTASSIUM CHLORIDE, GUAR GUM, CRANBERRY MEAL, MINERALS (IRON AMINO ACID CHELATE, ZINC AMINO ACID CHELATE, COBALT AMINO ACID CHELATE, COPPER AMINO ACID CHELATE, MANGANESE AMINO ACID CHELATE, SODIUM SELENITE, POTASSIUM IODIDE), .....
Unfortunately, my cats did't really like it, but Simon ate decent amount, and three others licked up some, since I added water to make a bit of gravy, especially as it was a bit on the dry side. It is a pate and they prefer shredded meat in gravy.
But, I was amazed and thrilled to finally see something of high quality in the grocery store! Maybe they will get in the dry food next.
Oh, and Purina has a new slightly upgraded line of dry food. It is called "Naturals Plus Vitamins and Minerals". It's by no means a premium level food, but it is a small step up from Purina One and a giant leap above Purina Cat Chow. I'd feel fine serving the new "Naturals" to my cats once-in-a-while if I didn't get a chance to go to the pet store, but could zip on over the grocery, which is much closer.
I am very glad that Purina is finally making some improvements in making better quality food. They should junk that Purina Cat Chow. That is a terrible product to feed cats on a consistent basis. _________________ Margaret, a/k/a Galensgranny |

Well, it is not a food worth traveling an hour to get! But if your closest grocery carries it, it is good to be able to not have to travel far if you run out of cat food and don't have time for a long trip to the pet store.
I had ordered a free sample of it. I didn't think about posting it yesterday.

It is a decent sized sample. It is good enough to be used as a treat if anyone wanted the sample just for that. _________________ Margaret, a/k/a Galensgranny |

Thanks for the link for the free sample Margaret - I've gone ahead and "ordered" it.
When I make that trip to PetSmart I don't just go for one or two items.... I buy all my cat litter there (it's PetSmarts brand of feline pine stuff) usually 6 (20 lb) bags or so, get my dog food there (they can only eat ProPlan for Sensitive Stomachs and Skin and it's not available anywhere else around here.... I get the HUGE bag that lasts about 5 or 6 weeks) and I also pick up the cat's dry foods and treats there.... It's a major shopping trip. I have to go about every month and a half to two months anyway.....
I can, however, check at WalMart (30 miles away) because they also carry Purina One brand foods....
I feed the cats premium wet foods and only give them the dry as a supplemental food so it doesn't have to be so expensive. Besides, I've tried all kinds of premium dry foods (except the Precise which I am looking for a sample of....) and they don't seem to like them. I can't tell you how much food I've had to throw out because it sat around and got "stale" for months.... _________________ Michelle |

If you have old, stale cat food, throw it into the yard away far from the house for creatures to eat. Bugs will eat it. Birds also eat cat food.

That is a good plan to help with finances, and still get some top quality nutrition into the cats. _________________ Margaret, a/k/a Galensgranny |

| Quote: | | Oh no, Cindy!!!! You ran out of food?????? HOW COULD YOU????? FB must have been doing the "fainting dead away" thing like mine do when they don't get their wet food.... (keep in mind they have 3 flavors of dry food out 24/7). Oh my...... is he alright????? |
LOL, FB doesn't bother with that sissy fainting act. He goes into full fledged screaming at the top of his lungs. If we shoo him in another room because he is screaming, he will scream louder. He will walk up to me and deliberately show me a claw or two just to remind me of the damage he could do if he chose to. I ran to the pet store the moment it opened! Just keep in mind that FB did not get his name by chance, he earned it!! _________________ Cindy, Randy, and cats, FB and Minzi

To be honest... I've always wanted to know what F.B. stood for too...... thanks for bringing it up Mark.
I'm thinking things like: Fuzzy Butt, Fur Ball, etc. _________________ Michelle |
