*sigh*

I give up... I'm going to have six cats Thursday afternoon. The lady that took Butterscotch is giving her back - apparently the other night Butterscotch almost fell off the bed and dug her claws into Mary's arm, by accident. However, Mary has had a mastectomy and they removed all the lymph nodes under that arm as well, so now she has a nasty infection and the dr told her the cat has to go.

When she called me she was crying and very upset, but sounds like she's made up her mind.

Please say a prayer for both Mary & Butterscotch. They're both going to be upset by this.

Here's a pic of Butterscotch as a reminder - she is a pretty little thing.

Stephanie,

I'm so sorry for Butterscotch, for the lady and of course for you! This is a very difficult situation. It has to be extremely difficult for this lady to make this decision, but I think with an infection in such a vulnerable place, she probably is terrified. The fact that she is alone, she might feel she has no choice since her doctor so strongly told her Butterscotch has to go.

Butterscotch is so beautiful and I know how much love you have for her, but that doesn't make the situation easy. I will pray for you and hope that it will all work out.

Maria

Thank you Maria. I need all the prayers I can get!

I hate to be whiny, but I was already feeling icky and this just tops it off. I've been looking at houses and getting depressed about the lack of availability in my price range. Sometimes it just seems one can't get a break.

Oh well.. Just gotta keep trucking on and hope that it will all work out.

Oh, I'm so sorry things didn't work out for the lady and Butterscotch. That is so sad.... but I guess she does have a really good reason for needing to return the cat to you.....better than to a shelter or somesuch place. You'll find a new home for the kitty.... everything happens for a reason even when we don't know what it is. I feel bad for the poor lady being in such a situation and then having to give up a kitty she loves as well..... Luckily Butterscotch knows you and your family and it won't be as traumatic a "move" for her. I'll keep you, the lady and of course, Butterscotch and her future, in my prayers.

I do too Michelle. I know she's upset - and Butterscotch is going to be upset. She loves being the only cat and is spoiled absolutely rotten. I just wish there was something I could do to fix it, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be.

Thanks for the support and prayers. Smile

How about suggesting those "soft paws" so the lady can keep Butterscotch and the claws wouldn't be able to scratch her????? I just thought of that!!!!

Is she an older woman????? Just curious. I know the skin gets very, very thin as we age. Maybe she could give Butterscotch another try since falling off the bed is a rare occurance and not very likely to happen again. It's not like Butterscotch did it on purpose as the doctor might be thinking.......

Good idea about the soft-paws. Unfortunately she is convinced that she has to give her back. I went out yesterday and got two packs of the soft-paws and called her, but she's afraid to try it.

Yeah, she's an older lady, so I think she's afraid that even it happens very infrequently that the outcome won't be worth the risk.

Oh that's too bad for her and for Butterscotch. It was such a good set up for them both. I didn't think she'd be willing to try it if she's an older lady. I've noticed that many older folks really do still listen to their doctors where sometimes a younger person would try to find a way to satisfy the doc AND themselves with some other resolution - like I would, with the soft paws, for instance. Oh well....it was worth a shot. I feel bad for Buttercup more than anything because she's the one who will have to get used to another new home and strange humans.

Me too. Along with 5 cats she's got to put up with. I'm picking her up this afternoon and will give her plenty of loving and some tuna for a treat.

Aww.....give her some kisses and smooshes and pets for me too!!! I hope she'll be happy and comfortable to be "home" with you and the other kitty's again for however long that will be.
