Awwww..... poor Butterscotch. I knew it was going to be tough for her. I hope she recovers soon. Keep an eye out for any UTI's that might pop up due to stress..... how did the lady take it when you arrived to pick Butterscotch up? She's going to be lonely now too...... too bad she didn't want to give the soft paws a chance. (Oh, they come in colors now so the claws look like painted nails)
I hope you find a home you like in an area you like in your price range too.....SOON. _________________ Michelle |

Oh Stephanie, I'm sorry the new home for Butterscotch didn't work out. Maybe you will have luck finding a new home for him.
Good luck with your house hunting! _________________ Margaret, a/k/a Galensgranny |

Thanks guys
I'm sorry it took me so long to respond
Butterscotch is out from under the bed and has calmed down quite a bit. She's back to her chin-licking little self.
Thanks for find-a-home wishes too. I don't feel as desperate as I did last week, but now I'm in a different mess. lol You know me, always one mess or another.
I guess having Butterscotch returned has made me worry about what would happen down the road if Snickers and Jellybean are returned later. Right now they're getting along pretty well with Thomas, Sammy & Sunny. Of course, the big guys get irritated with them when they won't quit pestering them at times, but they're all out and about most of the time.
I want some advice and opinions, please. And you guys all love cats - no one in my family is supportive of me in my cat rescue attempts - they seem to think that I should've taken all the ones I've gotten to the pound and let them take their chances. I guess I just need some reassurance and guidance from people that have gone through this themselves. _________________ Stephanie, mom to

I think you should do as you have been doing, but do try to rehomes the ones you can. The cats will be more adoptable if they are living in a house, where they get used to all the "house noises". And also they get to trust a kind person and become more people oriented than if they spent maybe months in a cage most of the time.
You also get to get them used to using scratching posts and mats instead of furniture.
So if have room and it is not making your "main" cats overly upset, then keep doing it. Don't go out of your way to find cats, though! _________________ Margaret, a/k/a Galensgranny |

Stephanie:
Please forgive me for responding late to this message. I read the post when I got back from the base, but did not have time to respond then. This morning, when I was planning on writing to you, I could not find the correct post.
Anyway, YOPU ARE DOING THE RIGHT THING. At a shelter, even the better ones, a cat or dog simply can not receive the kind or type of care he or she would get in a home. Between being caged away or the noise, it simply is not the best environment.
I believe that there is a reason and purpose for everything. If a cat comes into my life, there is a reason. If a cat comes into my life, I’m willing to accept the responsibility for him or her, and not simply “dump him or her at the local pound”. I am obligated to share the blessings and other good “things” that I have received.
This probably says it best:
| Quote: | Success
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
