Jen:
One product I have used very successfully to deal with fleas is Capstar.
Two years ago, Ranger, a very sick and flea infested kitten, ran to me from under the farm stand. Some very bad person had thrown him out of a moving car. Long story short, he came home with me about a week after he had been abandoned.
Ranger had a very severe flea infestation. The first night we bathed him in baby shampoo and killed 30 or more fleas on him, but plenty more remained. When I took him to the vet on Monday (he came home on a Saturday), the vets gave him a Capstar pill. Within 6 horus or so, all of the adult fleas on him were dead.
Capstar only kills adult fleas. It does not kill flea eggs. But it does kill the adult fleas right away. You can give a Capstar pill to your little ones every day.
Between the Capstar and Advantage, we were able to kill all of Ranger’s fleas. He was also quarenteened in a spare room. After a week or so (once he was given the OK to mingle with the other cats), I had the room bombed with a vet supplied product. Bombing is not the right word, it was some type of spray. Since I have asthma and develop pneumonia every time I sneeze, friends did the spraying for me.

Thanks for the info Mark. That sounds good---actually, I think Michelle had mentioned Capstar, but I didn't know that you could use it with Advantage.
Thanks also for looking up the room treatment flea products.
I'll check with the vet on these. _________________ -Jen & cats Chloe & Eggers |

Yah, Capstar is a pill you give them vs Advantage which is a topical thing. Capstar is NOT prescription by the way, but make sure you get the real Capstar (you CAN buy it from your vet) and not some knock off to be safe. _________________ Michelle |

OK, so the Fleabusters guy came out on Thursday and applied the powder to my floors and throw rugs. To answer your question Michelle, he said he mostly just works it in with his hands, especially around the edges of the room. He made me go into another room while he was applying, so unfortunately I didn't see him do it.
He also said they no longer apply it to sofas because that's not where the fleas and eggs hide, according to them. They hide in floors and furry things like rugs and towels.
The night before that I applied Frontline Plus on the kitties. Did you know that Frontline Plus kills fleas PLUS eggs and larvae? I was a little nervous about it, because it has an additional chemical in it, but I'm counting on only having to apply it once (maybe twice).
Hope it all works. One good thing, as Michelle said, fleabusters guarantees it for a year. _________________ -Jen & cats Chloe & Eggers |

Thanks for letting me know how Fleabusters applies that stuff to hardwood floors..... I suppose it would work after all or they wouldn't do it, huh? So, is your flea problem under control now???? _________________ Michelle |
