Eventually, she adopted a kitten, a gray tabby. So, she tells me how the kitten, while outside, climbed up the tree last night. They could not, for safety reasons, get him until the sun rose. This morning, she was and got him safely out of the tree (at 5:00 am)

Hey, isn't that what Fire Departments are for? Wink

She did not think it would be “fair” to the kitty not to go outside under “supervised” conditions. (

Grrr! This is exactly what I was talking about in my thread about frustration over friends who do what they will with their cats. I wish shelters would hand out this flier when they adopt out cats:

It's been a long time since I've had a Pippin update for everyone. With all the problems with Evan, Ranger and Missy, I jsut have not had the time to write up the funny little incidents.

I don't have a funny story now, sorry. But, I did want to say that Pippin now weighs 11 lbs, 13 ounces. That makes him the second largest cat in the house. Only Ranger is heavier than he is.

I took a few pictures of him today. I have not yet uploaded the pictures to Photobucket, but I wll do so in the next day or two. All I will say is hat he has a very Sparky-like body.

Funny you should say that.... Sparky now weighs 11 lbs and some ounces (forgot the number of ounces however). They must look like twins!!!!

Sparky is third in line at my house for biggest cat. That's just the physical though.... attitude wise - he thinks he's king of the jungle. catroar Rolling Eyes

Well, we haven't forgotten Pippin here, so tell him not to worry. Sometimes I don't mention Molly because she doesn't get in trouble or have health problems. Hmmmmmmm..... Rolling Eyes

Molly and Jeremy say to tell Pippin they're thinking about him. Trilly-107-icon_cat Trilly-107-icon_cat

Maria:

You know, it was nice to go back and read simple and joyful stories about Pippin. One forgets the funny little things - the simple joys - whilst in the mist of three little ones with active medical conditions.

So, my plan is to find these funny episodes of life and share them. Granted, it is easier to do so when two of the three little ones seem to be stable.

So, I will share a little happy story. It’s about Dusty this time.

Dusty, since she grew out outside and semi-wild (as in a neglected house pet), has never been much for touching, petting or lap sitting. She does not like to be picked up. She never gets angry or aggressive, just squirmy.

Since she has a pretty thick coat, combing is very important. At first, Dusty would fight a combing. But, slowly over time, she has started to enjoy the process.

Dusty has learned that head and ear rubs are nice. Now, she willing comes to get them from me when I am sitting at the computer at home. She jumps up to the bench and puts her paws up on the edge of the table, right next to where I sit. She has found out that head and ear rubs are so nice that she now INSISTS that I give them to her.

And, for a cat who has never sat in my lap before – over the weekend Dusty jumped up on the table curled her head down against my arm, and took a nap.

I may actually convince her, after almost a year and a half of trying, that a lap is not a bad place.

Mark,

It was good to read some happy and light times you've been having with Dusty. She sounds so sweet. I'm glad she is close to you and trusts you. How does she get along with the other cats? Is she shy?

BTW, I'm going to the post office tomorrow early morning. There is an envelope in my back seat addressed to you. Guess what finally is going out? I'm soooooo sorry Mark geschockt Last week was extremely busy......but I did not forget you!

Pippin the Monster seems to be going through some species identifications issues right now.

Missy has a frisbee that we use to play catch every now and then. When we play, Missy carries the frisbee in and out. Occasionally, she will chew on it.

Very early this morning, about 3:00AM, Pippin awakens me. He is rolling around in the bed and chewing on something. Although I do my best to ignore him and simply fall back to sleep, he is making too much commotion.

I get up and turn on the light. Much to my surprise, Pippin is carrying one of the plastic lids I use to reseal open cans of cat food. He is carrying it just like Missy carries the frisbee.

Eventually, I snag the lid from him and hide it under the covers. After a few minutes, Pippin settles down and falls asleep. I do the same, but it takes me a little longer to fall back to sleep.

What will that stinker think up next?

Maria:

Thank you very much. I just received the items in the mail.

The lids are adorable!

I also noticed that there were a few other surprises in the envelope. Ranger and Little Bit thank you for the yummy treat. Dusty thanks you for the new, bat it around the floor, toy. Pippin thanks you for the toy that he can bat around the floor and, when he is finally ready to kill it, eat it.

I’m not sure if Evan ate it or not. I’ll know this evening.

Missy liked it, too.

Maria stuffed some Lamb and Rice treats into the package. Her two would not eat them.

Pippin played hockey with the treat for a while. Once he noticed that Little Bit ate the treat I gave him, Pippin decided to eat his.

There is a treat that is designed to be played with and then eaten. I can't find the link for it right now - but it was catnip mixed in with food grade wax. The kitties would play with them for hours, or until Missy saw the ball. She ate them.
