There is a Morristown in Tennessee too - I think that's the name or it was pretty close to that. I was there in 74 for "spring break". LOL

Nashville? I went there about 9 or 10 years ago - went to Fan Fair. MAN it was HOT.

I would have been rushing my cat to the vet too if that happened to one of mine.

Yeah, I was a wreck. I was out of the shower & getting ready for work. Trying to think of what to do - get the carrier out and, oh, yeah, you better get dressed Embarassed

I have never had a cat with problems like yours. But I do have a large, orange male. I read somewhere that large orange cats are prone to diabieties. When FB started to over groom and got sick, the first thing I noticed was his bad breath. It smelled kinda sicky, sweet and I rushed him to the vet. He was diabetic, and now he gets 2 insulin shots a day. I sincerely hope that your cat isn't like this. I am only relating my experience with bad breath here and hope that your cat i just fine by now!!

Whenever they have problems, I always say "I know how to pick 'em" Of course, I wouldn't give any of them up for the world.

Her breath doesn't have that sweetish diabetes smell. I think she may be too young for diabetes - doesn't that usually happen to older cats?

Hey Trish..... no, in 74 I was in Morristown Tennessee..... I went to Nashville and Memphis (to see Elvis's place) in 94 or so. Very different towns. Morristown TN has sidewalks up above the road at second story levels and on each corner there were big cement flower pot things filled with cascading flowers..... It was pretty neat. I was shocked yet pleased because it was so different. That's the only thing I remember about it though - that and the tornado I watched going across a field not really that far from me but not coming toward me either. I'm sure it was Morristown - it was Morris something....

Laughing and Yah, it's always a good idea to get dressed before you leave the house.... Wink

Kidney failure can also be indicated by bad breath.....just FYI

FB was around 6 when he got diabeties. I always thought it was older cats also. I don't even know if it is correct about orange cats being prone to it. It is just something I had read on a web site at one time when I was looking for all the info I could find on feline diabeties. I know the diabeties can cause siezures, but thankfully, I have never seen FB have one. I think I would totally freak out if he did!!!

I didn't know that. I'm pretty sure it's just that she needs to have her teeth cleaned. The back ones look like they have a bit of plaque on them. When I used to feed kibble, she didn't crunch it, just swallowed it whole.

I've been putting it off because I'm just so scared to have her go through dental after almost losing Chelsea's last summer after her dental.

Putting it off isn't good. Best to get it done BEFORE something worse can happen. That poor kitty..... I understand your fear entirely - but I would at least take the kitty in to be checked for other possibilities (blood work etc.) so you would know for sure what's causing the bad breath in case a dental isn't the answer.

I'm definitely going to have her teeth cleaned, but I'm so petrified. I obvously won't be going back to the guy who did Chelsea's.

I really think her bad breath is due to tartar/plaque. Her back teeth look worse than Chelsea's did. Swallowing kibble whole didn't do her any good, that's for sure.

Maybe she was swallowing kibble whole because she has a painful tooth (or several painful teeth) that prevents her from chewing. I would find a different vet too after what happened to Chelsea. Poor kitty! kittyandsmiley

I'm a raw feeder now, so I haven't fed kibble in over 2 years. She came to me as a kitten of 8 months and didn't crunch the kibble even then. She was always hungry and I guess she figured it was quicker to swallow it whole. Rolling Eyes
