Well, diet probably isn't related then.

Abby came to me with balance problems. At first I assumed she had been in a cage in the shelter too long but it never resolved itself. Conventional vets were puzzled.

She may have suffered a head injury.

She is a bit crazy!! my little alpha girl. She couldn't jump very high either. She tried at the vet's office to jump onto the scale, which was set at about 2+ ft. Didn't make it. She is fine now though, thankfully, except for thinking she's the boss of the house!

Hi Trish! Trilly-09-17erin_results[1] First let me say WELCOME to the forum....I haven't seen you here before. I'm glad you found us and we're glad to have you!

I'm very sorry about your poor cats and this tipping over thing....I am not familiar with this disease, but my first thought was a head injury as Margaret mentioned. I also find it odd that both your cats are doing this.... could they be getting into something poisonous perhaps? I know you said that Abbey came to you this way, but geez.... it's awful coincidental that two cats in the same house would act like this.
I'm just trying to think of causes that maybe nobody else has thought of.....

As for Baylees teeth (I think that was the right cat) and her getting bad breath - I learned the HARD AND EXPENSIVE way that letting it get to that point is not a good thing.

My dog Snowball was getting really bad breath that just kept getting worse - and finally I took him in to the vet for a dental cleaning. The bad breath was caused by a disintegrating bone in the jaw (that holds the teeth in place) and he ended up getting TWENTY teeth pulled in one session - for a total of $845.00. I STILL have not told my husband because he would shoot us both if he knew..... and Snowball just had his teeth cleaned in 2004 and they were fine then. Best not to wait for your kitty's sake OR you pocketbook!

Now my other dog is getting bad breath and I don't even have a job!!! Rolling Eyes

Poor Abby - I'm glad she's okay now though.

The other night I was laying in bed and heard this awful noise coming from the kitchen. I got up and Thomas had jumped on top of the refrigerator and knocked down two advil bottles and was rolling them around the floor. He either liked the noise or was on a quest for food! He really doesn't appreciate being on a diet, but he sure can jump higher than he used to! Rolling Eyes

I hope when Baylee gets her workup they find an answer to the hair pulling and that her teeth aren't too bad.

PS We'd love to see some pictures of the fuzzy trio - hint, hint Wink

Thanks Michelle.

These are two totally separate issues. Abby is fine since her homeopathic treatment. Baylee developed IVS last May. Her relapses last about 24 hours - she won't eat (they say she's probably nauseous) and her body twists to the left. Whenever there's a severe change in the weather, she relapses. The blizzard this weekend and the 60° temp now doesn't help at all.

Twenty teeth at one time. Poor baby, and poor you!! I do know that I need to have her teeth cleaned. I just hesitate so much because I had Chelsea's teeth cleaned this past summer. She got so sick afterward I almost lost her. We thought she developed FIP from the doctor's office. When I get Baylee done, needless to say it won't be at the same vet. I did hear some good things about a cats only vet in Morristown. I'll probably give them a try.

Trish

PS Hope you find a job soon!

Maybe he started out on a quest for food but got sidetracked. I'm sure the noise the bottles made was enticing. Laughing

I sent you an email this morning with lots of pictures. I'm going to try & download some here later.

ttyl,
Trish

Gee Trish - those poor kitty's.... do you think it's painful for them when this disease flares up or is it similar to like a seizure thing where they are not aware it's happening? It must be terrifying for you to watch them go though this....

I always wondered if a "cat's only" vet would be good..... because they specialize in cats you might have better luck. Never know. We don't have any here but I did see one in Florida. Well, I didn't SEE them, I just knew where they were located but since I had a good vet, I never needed to check them out.

What state is Morristown in? Sounds familiar....

I don't think it's painful, but I'm sure it's uncomfortable and probably scary for her too (at least in the beginning. When she had the initial episode it was so frightening. I thought she was having a stroke. Her whole body was tilted and she couldn't even stand up. At 6 am I was rushing her to the emergency vet.

I'll let you know. I haven't been totally satisfied with any vet I've been to in years.

NJ - I saw that you are in NY and thought you would recognize it.

Well, I kinda did.... There is a Morristown in Tennessee too - I think that's the name or it was pretty close to that. I was there in 74 for "spring break". LOL WOOHOO! Aren't I the party animal? Most kids go to Florida, I went to Tennessee. Saw a tornado there....

Anyway, we also have a Morristown here in NY and for a few minutes - I thought that's where you were because I always get those confused - oh no - wait a minute - it's MorrisVILLE in NY..... see????? I get them confused!!! Trilly-81-35

Edited to add: I would have been rushing my cat to the vet too if that happened to one of mine. You poor thing!!!
