I am looking for a specific toy and I can't find it anywhere. I bought the original one at PetSmart and haven't seen one there now since - and that was MONTHS ago!
I am looking for a dangle toy that goes over a door. It was just an over the door hanger with an elastic type string thing with a little ball of fluff on the end with feathers hanging off of the fluff ball. The feathers lasted two minutes but the fluff ball lasted several weeks... until Peaches finally killed it. Now, the fluff ball itself is STILL a toy that Peaches carries around (making her "I have a dead mouse in my mouth" sound in the middle of the night) and the string and stuff is hanging there with another toy attached to it (I tied it on) but it just doesn't have the same appeal as the fluff ball.
I paid $10 for it and would LOVE another. This over the door dangle toy really kept their attention for hours on end!!! Anybody seen anthing like that anywhere? _________________ Michelle |

How about these, at Arcatapet?

If you have a Wal-Mart or Target near you, they might have some type of over-the-door toy.
They have that mouse that makes real mouse squeek noises as an over the door hang toy:

Thanks Margaret - those both might work. I see that the mouse one is scented with catnip too..... they might ALL play with that one!!! I'll probably order both since they are not that expensive.
I've been meaning to ask you - by the way - that crinkle crab you sent us - was that a catnip toy? Muffin just loves that thing and she's always licking it and holding it between her paws and rolling on it..... as if it had catnip in it. Do you recall if it does? _________________ Michelle |

You're welcome, Michelle. I think that crinkle crab may have had catnip in it, but I'm not sure. _________________ Margaret, a/k/a Galensgranny |

Michelle:
Did the toy sqweek? I have one, and the local Petsmart or Petco still has it.
If you would like, I could ship it down for you.
When I get home tonight (assuming I get home tonight, the auditors are finally here), I'll look up the name of it for you.
It hung on a plastic clamp - was only about $10 or so, and the furry mouse at the end of it squeeked everytime it was touched.
Floyd just loved it. I think Pippin will love it too, but he has to be a bit older before I will let him play with it

Gee Thanks Mark, but Margaret (GG) already gave me the link to a site to buy some. The one I have (HAD) was just a ball of fluff - it didn't make any kind of sound at all.... Peaches was just insane over it! Margaret gave me a link to two different over-the-door toys and I might just try getting them both - one looks like a big furry octopus (that might be fun for Sparky) and the other is a catnip scented mouse that squeaks. The links she gave are earlier in this thread in case you want to take a look at them.
Thanks for the offer though.....
Why would poor little Pippin have to be deprived of a nice hanging toy like that until he gets bigger???? I think it would be a blast for him to play with while all alone in his safe room when you are at work!! Come on DAD!!!!
How's the little guys ringworm coming along, anyway? _________________ Michelle |

Michelle:
Sam. a coworker's kitten got tangeled up in a hanging toy. I want to make sure he is older and a little heavier (which will make the toy break) before I let him use it without any supervision).
The ringworm seems to be cleaning up nicely. Pippin was out with the other cats yesterday - mostly because he is so fast, he gets out of the door before I can block it.

I didn't even THINK of that!!! Was he ok??????
Geez, don't listen to me, for sure!!! I would have been a bad mommy without even realizing it!!!!! GEEZ!!!! I bow to your expertise....
I see that the introductions have begun.... hehehe.... I'm half-way through your Sunday update now. Sounds like it's all moving along rather well. Keep up the good work.
Oh, and sorry about the auditors.... I know that can be a pain. How long are you expecting to have to deal with them? _________________ Michelle |

Michelle:
Sam is ok. He got a paw tangled in the cord and was hanging off the floor. From what I was told, he let out a very loud cry and was quickly rescued. I’m just concerned that little one will wrap the cord around his neck!
The auditors are here through the end of the week. Really, most of the work is already done, as I try to give them audit ready statements. Seeing that I used to work for them, I pretty much know what has to be done and basically do the audit for them. This prevents surprises, and, all surprises are bad!
As to the integrations going well…. It depends on your viewpoint. I’m sure the adult cats are not so sure about the integration process, as the kitten tends to upset the accomplishment of very important things (sleeping, sleeping by the woodstove, sleeping on daddy’s lap, eating, etc.). On the other paw, the kitten thinks the integration process is wonderful – all kinds of new places to go, things to smell, and kitties to jump on.

That is EXACTLY what terrified me the moment you said that little Sam got tangled up.... thank God that someone was home to rescue the poor little thing - and that it was "just a paw"!
As for the auditors, seeing as how you have everything ready for them the way they require - maybe they'll be out of there by Wednesday..... I used to work for some accountants and sometimes, if everything was "in order" they would be done sooner than expected. I hope you will be so lucky...

Ah....kittenhood. Isn't it wonderful????? It goes by so fast.....too fast. You must be thrilled to be watching it, even if the older cats are not so amused. Hehehe.... They'll get over it. _________________ Michelle |
