You can select an avatar to be shown in all your posts under your user name in the left side panel. You can upload your own avatar, or chose one from Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! |
Avatars cannot be wider or taller than 80 pixels.
To add an avatar, go to your Profile page. At the bottom of the Profile page, you will find the Avatar Control Panel.
To upload one from your computer, follow the directions on the Profile page.
To use a picture from another website, such as an online photo album, or your own webspace, you need to put in the complete URL of the particular picture you want to use. You must put it in the section "Link to off-site Avatar"- the very bottom choice. Then hit the "Submit" button. |

OK...I figured out how to add an Avatar but now I need to know - how do I go about editing it so it will fit the required measurements (80 pixels, etc.)
Once I have that information I'll go in search of a picture..... _________________ Michelle |

Do you have a picture editing program that has a resizing feature?
I use IrfanView, that can be downloaded for free from Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! |
The easier way might be for you to email the picture and I can do it for you. _________________ Margaret, a/k/a Galensgranny |

Geez, no, I never heard of that site but I did bookmark it before I started this reply so I could go back to it and research it....maybe tomorrow. Right now I'm catching up on all the other threads on this forum since DH is watching a movie that I am not interested in.
I have a specific picture in mind (of Peaches) to use for a while, but I have to find it. With DH crashing our computer so much (twice in 4 months) I've lost all the pictures I had saved. I'll have to go through that huge box of photos I have in the closet to track it down.
I'll let you know (in a couple of days, weeks or whatever) when I find it if I'll need you to fix it for me. Thanks. _________________ Michelle |

You put in: Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! |
But that is not a URL to anywhere. Avatars have to be either online on a website that allows direct linking, or uploaded from your computer. _________________ Margaret, a/k/a Galensgranny |

Oh..... I thought all I had to do was "highlight" and cut and paste from your choices at WVCATS. Oh well.... I just e-mailed you the photo I would like to use of Milo and Peaches in the interim (until I can get all four cats in one shot anyway). You have Galen up there so I didn't want to put Sparky up there by himself and confuse people with two black cats.....
Speaking of the little DEVIL, boy is he causing trouble today!!! Geez, I'm gonna have to make him take a time out if he doesn't settle down some!!! I think he needs you to come over and give him "what for"! God knows, he won't listen to me. _________________ Michelle |

You had to add the beginning of the URL also, not just the name of the picture itself. "All of the avatars below start with- Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | and then the individual picture name."
I put your pic up as your avatar now! I made an exception and allowed 100 pixels wide, as otherwise it would not be so good for that picture.
I don't think anyone would confuse Sparky with Galen! Tell him he better settle down now! _________________ Margaret, a/k/a Galensgranny |

Thank you Margaret for setting that up for me... I didn't know how to do it to save my life....
Sparky was a "bad boy" yesterday (Sunday). HE is going to write about it on the kittynet tomorrow (Tuesday). Today I'm at work and don't have time and wont have time tonight either..... the boy MUST be supervised at all times!!!!
Edited to add: GREAT JOB on my avatar Margaret!!!! They look so cute!!!! I had a brainstorm too but I don't know how to do it. When I get a nice shot of Sparky (I might actually have one somewhere) Would you be able to put little red devil horns on him with a pitchfork on the side of him for an avatar???? Hahahahahaha Just trying to "think ahead" here since he is the most famous character in my house. _________________ Michelle |
